How to Maximize the Charging Speed on Your Samsung Phone With Bixby Routines

You can help to make your Samsung Galaxy charge faster by setting up a special Bixby routine. Here's what you need to do.

Smartphones today are supporting increasingly fast charging speeds, but some brands prioritize it more than others. We've already seen more than 120W charging on some Android phones, yet Samsung only allows 45W on its S22 Ultra while the mid-range Galaxy A series is limited to 25W.

Although that's not slow by any means, there is a way you can maximize the charging speed on your Samsung phone with the help of Bixby Routines. Once set up, your phone will detect if it's plugged in and automatically do everything it should to charge faster. Exciting, right? Let's see how to do this.

The way to increase charging speed is to simply reduce the amount of stress put on your battery, and the quickest way to do that is to (temporarily) halt the things that are consuming power. You can do this with Bixby Routines automatically.

If you're unaware or haven't used the feature before, make sure to check out our full guide on how to set up Bixby Routines on your Samsung phone for more info. Either way, follow these steps to get started:

Your routine is now set. Go ahead and plug in your phone. After some time, when you unplug the charger and the routine ends, Bixby will reverse all of these actions so that you can go back to using your phone like normal.

To maximize charging speed, enable the Limit apps and Home screen toggle in the Power saving menu; doing so limits background activity and restricts all apps except selected ones.

Just to be clear, this trick doesn't ensure dramatically faster charging. But if all the conditions are ideal, it should cut at least five minutes for a full charge. Although that's not a lot, remember that these five minutes saved will keep adding up in each charging session.

Factors like the age of your phone, the efficiency of its processor, and the temperature may also affect charging speed. Make sure to avoid wireless charging as it's super inefficient, and try not to charge your device fully as that contributes to faster battery degradation.

To mitigate this degradation and preserve your battery health for longer, consider turning on Protect battery. The Protect battery feature limits charging to 85%. To enable it, go to Settings > Battery and device care > Battery > More battery settings and toggle on Protect battery.

Do note that a lot of the actions that you're automating via Bixby Routines for faster charging can also be used to extend your phone's battery life in general if it has become problematic.

Fast charging is super convenient, but you won't be able to take full advantage of it if your phone is running demanding programs and depleting the battery in the meantime. Of course, it's most efficient to power down your device while charging, but that's not convenient.

With Bixby Routines, you can set your device to automatically turn off running programs as soon as you plug in your phone. The lesser the work your phone does while charging, the cooler it will be and the faster it will be able to receive and sustain a charge.
