The Klein Portable Power Bank is one big, high-density lithium-ion battery that provides 546Wh of power. For a point of reference, Klein claims that this is enough power for:
The 48-cell KTB5 Portable Power Station includes two 120V AC outlets for 600 watts of peak output and 300 watts of continuous power. It also includes two USB-A (2.4A) and two USB-C (3.0A) ports for a total output of 30W. Because of the Power Station’s Pure Sine Wave tech, you can run even your most sensitive electronic devices.
It includes a digital display with real-time telemetry for your input, output, and battery details.
An accessory mount on the side of the Power Station lets you attach your Klein jobsite speaker or Tradesmen Work Light. A collapsible rubberized carry handle also folds over for easier stacking.
The Klein Tools Portable Power Bank weighs in at 14 lbs, and at 7.5″ x 7.25″ x 11.75″, it can go pretty much everywhere the job takes you. It recharges in 8 to 10 hours.
The Klein Tools Portable Power Bank retails for $399.99. It comes with Klein’s 1-year warranty and an AC charging cord.
There are plenty of portable power options pushing to move away from gas generators. The Kohler enCube, Goal Zero Yeti, and EGO Nexus Power Station are all higher wattage solutions with varying levels of success. Even DeWalt’s Portable Power Station using four 20V Max or FlexVolt batteries is capable of some serious watts.
Klein is going for a less-bulky approach that targets users who don’t need a full 2000-watt generator replacement. It’s an effective amount of power for recharging electronics and a few power tool batteries over the course of a day. For the same $400, there’s a good chance you could just buy 3 or 4 more batteries for your tools, though.
What adds some value here is the versatility. Sure, you can get USB port adapters for your power tool batteries and that’s moderately helpful, but it doesn’t give you any 120V outlets. Having a couple of those opens up the ability to charge laptops and not just tablets and phones. You can run LED lights, small fans, radios, and more.
You can even run a 32″ TV for 8 hours or so. Slap a Fire Stick in the USB port and hang your hammock around the posts of your pergola for some quality outdoor entertainment.
The bottom line here is knowing how much power you really need to make it through the day. If you’re using a relatively low amount of power, Klein’s Portable Power Bank can be a great way to provide the power you need in a much more portable package.
